Email has become one of life’s necessities, and although it has largely been replaced by instant messaging for most personal communication, businesses still use it to talk to us and it’s also needed to provide access and security for other online services we use. Like it or not, it’s here to stay.
1. Setup
We can set up your new or existing account using your choice of client (a fancy name for the program used for sending and receiving emails). There are dozens (if not hundreds) of different clients available too, at varying price points, including free. We will help you choose the best one for your needs.
2. Synching Across Multiple Platforms
Set up a system incorrectly and you will get some of your messages on your phone while others go only to your computer. This can be very frustrating. On the other hand, a correctly configured system can ensure you have access to your messages wherever you need them. This may entail setting up one client on your PC another on your tablet, and yet another on your phone. We have experience on all of these platforms.
3. Multiple Accounts
Most households have multiple accounts. One or more per person. We can assist in setting up those multiple accounts and help choose the best client for every individual.
4. Archiving

Over time we build up large numbers of emails. Some we can delete, but many need to be kept for a variety of reasons. This can slow down some email clients. The best way to handle this is to implement an email archiving process. Older, less frequently needed messages can be hived off into a separate space where they don’t get in the way of day-to-day email use. We can show you how to set this up. This will keep your client performing at its best.
5. Optimising Your Emails
To optimise the performance of your chosen client, we can do things like set up appropriate folder/label structures and ensure that your client’s settings automatically clear your spam and junk folders on a regular basis.
6. Security
Like any online activity, email can provide a mechanism for scammers and malicious actors to gain access to your data. In fact, despite the efforts of many email providers, for most people it is probably the weakest link in our online security. We can teach you some methods to guard against these attacks. If the worst happens we may be able to help remove the malware from your system.
