PC set-up is an important step when buying a new computer. Of course a new PC can be extremely exciting but it can also a little bit daunting. The great news is that it doesn’t have to be! We’ll come to you and set up your new machine on-site where you want it and how you want it.
Here are some of the things we’d recommend for ensuring your PC set-up is right for you:
Remove unwanted programs and trialware
Many new computers come with programs and trial-ware – which is free, trial software that’s installed on your machine in the factory, that you didn’t ask for and probably don’t have a need for. We’ll check with you before removing it to speed up your machine and prevent those annoying pop-ups.
Perform system updates
Because of the delay between their manufacture and your purchase, many new computers will need to have the latest Windows (or other) operating system updates installed as soon as they’re taken out of the box. Avoid the headache and let us do it for you!
Software installation
You’ll probably need some software, such as Microsoft Office, installed on your computer. Our computer set-up service will help get your software installed so it’s all ready for you to enjoy. We are also experienced in getting software packages installed and working at their best.
Hardware installation
Along with the purchase of your new computer, you may also have various add-on hardware that requires installation. This includes things like hard drives, RAM, optical drives and graphics cards. We can help get your hardware installed.
Optimise start-up and shut-down
Many different factors affect the speed at which your computer is able to start-up and shut-down. We take a look at all of them to ensure both processes are as quick as possible.
Create system recovery discs
System recovery disks are incredibly important and useful if your computer experiences hardware or software failure down the track. It’s not something that the average user often does, so it’s another great reason to call in Tech Doods. If you like, we’ll even take a copy of these disks so that – if disaster strikes – and you can’t find the disks, we’ll have a them.
Install internet security software
Internet security software will protect your computer and the personal information you have stored on it from being corrupted by viruses and malware (tech speak for malicious software) or stolen by identity thieves.
Set-up and transfer your personal information
Before leaving, we’ll finish your PC set-up by setting up your most important personal information on your new computer, including your email account. If you have personal details already stored on your old machine that need transferring to the new one, your Tech Dood can transfer your data too!
